Old Thatch is a delighful property

Old Thatch is a delightful country property alongside the Basingstoke Canal near Winchfield, Hampshire.  The house is, as its name suggests, a thatched cottage dating back at least 250 years.

There are lawns, trees, borders, shrubs and fields lived in by sheep and donkeys. More details of the gardens, and the history of the property are in the following pages.

The gardens at Old Thatch are open on selected dates for the National Gardens Scheme. Thanks to the generosity of our visitors and the delicious cakes, £2,700 was raised for charity on 1st September 2019.

Next open day

Sunday 13 June 2021

See diary page for details.

In normal years the garden is opened under the National Garden Scheme in April, June and September.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, all openings in 2020 and early 2021 had to be cancelled. Next open day is 13 June 2021.

We have therefore generated this brief video tour to show something of what would have seen in April and, hopefully, to encourage you to visit when we are able to open again.

Open Garden Days are held 3 times a year in aid of  Sebastian’s Action Trust, a leading charity providing holiday homes and practical support for children with life-threatening illnesses. See diary.

Another video describing the property and its history is on the Garden Now page
